Disneyland Paris castle bridge renovated: What will visitors see?

At Disneyland Paris, visitors will find a fully renovated bridge on the way to Sleeping Beauty Castle. Disneyland Paris says it will reopen soon, after nearly six months of work. No exact date has been announced yet. The official presentation of the work details the visible changes to this passage in Disneyland Park.

Granite paving and a renewed drawbridge

The most immediate change will be under visitors’ feet: the old stamped concrete has been replaced with granite paving. Laying it required 2,735 pieces to be individually fitted to follow the bridge’s curved shape. Disneyland Paris says the material was chosen for its appearance and durability, while also taking visitors’ comfort into account.

The drawbridge also has a new tropical wood deck. The wooden railing posts have been replaced, while the natural Champagny stone balusters have been remade and treated to protect them from moisture.

A thorough restoration for the castle’s 35th anniversary

The work went beyond a simple refresh. The structure supporting the decorative elements was rebuilt, along with the arches, corbels and decorative sleeves. The castle is celebrating its 35th anniversary: it was officially unveiled to the public on 12 October 1991, during the “Rendez-Vous at the Castle” event.

Next time you cross, look up as much as down: new granite, restored arches and refreshed balusters are waiting at the castle entrance.
